Safety is our program’s foundation, and training and certification are the program’s pillars.

Our field staff receives the following training and certifications:

  • Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Asbestos Worker license

  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification
  • Aerial Lift certification
  • MICCS substance abuse program screening

Project management staff maintains additional certifications such as inspector, supervisor, designer and OSHA-30. A description of all training and certifications follows:

Initial Asbestos Worker: 4 day intensive course covering all aspects of asbestos, its handling, removal and health effects. Hands-on training in the proper and most up-to-date techniques in asbestos abatement including:

  • Decontamination construction
  • Hazmat breathing devices & protective gear
  • And proper packaging and removal of all hazardous materials.

Initial Asbestos Supervisor: 5 day intensive course covering all aspects of asbestos, its handling, removal and health effects. Hands-on training in the proper and most up-to-date techniques in asbestos abatement including:

  • Decontamination construction
  • Hazmat breathing devices & protective gear
  • Proper packaging and removal of all hazardous materials.
  • Full-day training in proper written reports and notification for handling of asbestos.

Asbestos Building Inspector: 3 day course designed for those individuals who will engage in investigations for asbestos-containing materials (ACM). Course topics include legal considerations associated with environmental investigations, health effects associated with asbestos exposure, applicable asbestos regulations, understanding building systems, inspecting for the presence of ACM, asbestos bulk sampling, assessing the condition of ACM, and writing the asbestos inspection report. This course meets EPA AHERA requirements for an Asbestos Building Inspector.

Asbestos Project Designer: 3 day course is designed for those individuals who develop written project designs for asbestos abatement projects. Course topics include applicable asbestos regulations, health effects associated with asbestos exposure, personal protective equipment, work practices associated with asbestos disturbance, respiratory protection program, medical surveillance, and supervisor/contractor case studies. This course meets EPA AHERA requirements for an Asbestos Project Designer.

Lead Awareness: 2 hour course is designed to teach workers how to work with lead safely and how to use appropriate hygiene practices and personal protective equipment to protect themselves and their families. It also introduces them to the OSHA lead in construction standard and describes their rights and responsibilities under that standard.

Lead Supervisor: 4 day course for persons supervising lead-based paint abatements in target housing and child-occupied facilities. In addition, persons seeking to become a lead-based paint abatement contractor must either be accredited as a supervisor or employ such a supervisor. This course is designed to meet the training requirements for U.S. EPA accreditation (40 CFR 745 Subpart L) and for U.S. HUD certification (24 CFR 35).

Mold Awareness: 8 hour course in the recognition and remediation of all commonly found molds.

First Aid/CPR: 5 hour course designed for certification in American Red Cross First Aid, participants will gain knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel take over.

OSHA-10: 10 hour course designed for construction foremen, superintendents and engineers, safety professionals, construction managers, plant engineers, and any other personnel responsible for workplace safety. Course topics include:

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Hand and power tools
  • Signs and Barricades
  • Stairways and Ladders
  • Struck by / Caught in between hazards
  • DOT (Awareness, Safety, and Security)
  • PPE, Life saving equipment
  • Confined Space Awareness
  • Electrical
  • Health Hazards in Construction / Asbestos
  • Fall Protection

OSHA-30 Construction Industry: 30-hour comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry. Specifically devised for safety directors, foremen, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues.

HAZWOPER-40: 40 hours course designed for workers that perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances. This course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120.
